We tapped our maples up by the farmstand. The sap was really flowing this week. We boil the sap outside using a propane Turkey fryer. We use a candy thermometer and hydrometer to know when it is ready. The color is great.

DRY INGREDIENTS
1 cup of baking soda
½ cup citric acid
½ cup corn starch
½ cup Epsom Salts
WET INGREDIENTS
1 tbsp distilled water
20 drops essential oil – we use lavender
1 tbsp oil of your choice- almond, jojoba, baby
Food Coloring
Plastic Easter Eggs for molds
1 Tablespoon dried lavender (optional)
Whisk together dry ingredients
Mix wet ingredients separately
Slowly add wet to dry and mix well. Texture should be like wet sand. Add dried lavender and mix in if using.
If you want different colors – divide mixture into separate bowls and cover with plastic wrap to prevent drying. Add about 6-8 drops of food coloring to each bowl for color desired – mix well. For purple use 5 drops red and 3 drops blue.
Fill Eggs with Mixture and Snap Back Together.
You can layer different colors of mixture
Place in Freezer for Quick Set -5 minutes
Then Remove Plastic eggs – using a knife at the seam to pop apart.
Place eggs on paper towel to dry overnight before use –
Makes about 6 egg bombs
Drop one in warm tub and enjoy
